Meet Father Murray

Father Murray was ordained to the Roman catholic priesthood on June 6, 1981. As a priest, he was involved in full-time hospital ministry at Maine Medical Center for six years and campus ministry for seven years at the University of Maine Orono. After campus ministry, he was in parish ministry for the rest of his career; including Saint Mary’s Parish, in Bangor for nine years and he pastored over the next 17 1/2 years at cluster parishes in Auburn, Brunswick, and Bangor. He continues to serve the diocese of Portland Maine doing supply ministry all around the state. Father Murray graduated from St. John’s grammar school 1963. Then John Bapst High School in1967 and The University of Maine in Orono, 1971. He completed his theological studies at The Catholic University of America in Washington DC. He graduated in 1981 with a Master of Divinity degree.

In all of Father Murray’s Priestly assignments pastoral care to the sick and their families has been a high priority, and very meaningful work. He joined the Sarah’s House Board because over the last several years he has become aware of the important work of Sarah’s House, which motivated him to become more involved with the organization. He is looking forward to the exciting work that lies ahead. 

Father Murray really enjoys the Fall season and watching a good game of football. He also enjoys downhill skiing. Since he retired, he has lived in Bangor in his family home on Maple Street that his parents purchased when he was just 3 years old. resident of Bangor.  He is blessed with three sisters and one brother, and their wonderful spouses. As well as 10 nieces and nephews, and 17 great nieces and nephews. He is also very close to his cousins and enjoys spending time with all of this family.
