Meet Heather
Heather has a diverse professional background in executive administration; guest and board relations; hospitality and facilities management; and event planning. Heather has held positions as the Guest Services Manager of the Black Bear Inn and the Bangor Mall. Prior to joining Sarah’s House, she worked for the University of Maine System for 12 years, first in Facilities Management and then as the Assistant Clerk of the Board of Trustees. Heather grew up in Old Town and is a proud graduate of Old Town High School. She is a first gen college student and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Maine Presque Isle with a BA in Business Administration, concentration in Leadership and Management, and a Minor in Project Management.
Heather joined the Sarah’s House family as the Executive Director in 2023. Having been a caregiver for her father who passed away from esophageal cancer in 2004, her grandmother who passed away from lung cancer in 2007, and her sister who is currently battling lung cancer, she has a deep understanding of the support and care that a cancer patient needs. When asked why she chose Sarah’s House, Heather said “As someone who has closely witnessed the courageous efforts it takes to undergo cancer treatment, I am extremely touched by the Sarah’s House mission to provide a place of hope and comfort for our guests at a time they need it most. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to support this critical work and the Sarah’s House community.”
Heather is a loving sister and aunt and spends as much time with family as she can. She has 2 nieces and 5 nephews that she collectively refers to as her “minions”. When she is not with her family, her hobbies include spending time in nature, learning and practicing Reiki and other energy healing techniques, and making jewelry. She resides in Bangor with her two kitties Hazel and Luna and her pup Chance, who is often found at Sarah’s House as well.
